Units / Lessons

I have only completed two lessons so far in my college career. That being said, plenty of work went into both, and the peers whom tested it for me enjoyed the process.

I. Creating Simple Animation Using Flipbooks (2020).

In this lesson, students are taught how to create a simple flipbook animation of their own design. Along with an introduction to animation principles, folding, knife, safety, and multi-media skills are worked on.

II. Re-Envisioning Victorian Illustration with Modern Tools (2021).

In this lesson, students are given a brief history of Victorian illustration and narrative storytelling in order to create a black-and-white, digital work. Idea synthesis and group brainstorming is central to this process, as is the development of digital proficiency.

A unique feature of this lesson, due to it’s specific design catering to a time limit of only 3 hours, is a side-by-side illustration created by the instructor and streamed to students. This way, students were able to study the techniques they are learning in real-time. Feedback for this lesson was fantastic.
